Dent:Beyond Creates a Platform for Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration and Youth Inspiration in Southeast Asia

Dent:Beyond is a discussion-based program designed as an inspirational platform for students and young people to connect, share experiences, and broaden perspectives beyond the field of dentistry. Under the theme “Connecting with People Beyond Dentistry,” Dent:Beyond brings together speakers from diverse academic backgrounds and countries, aiming to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and strengthen youth engagement at the regional and international levels.

The Dent:Beyond series commenced on 9th November 2025 with Nurfarah Aliaa binti Haji Suhaimi, a student from Politeknik Brunei. She is widely recognized for her active involvement in international youth forums, including representing Brunei in the ASEAN Foundation x Maybank Foundation Empowering Youth Programme 2024 in the Philippines. She also led her team to achieve 5th place out of 1,300 teams in the ASEAN–China AI Competition 2025. During her session, Nurfarah shared insights on youth leadership, digital transformation, and the importance of courage and compassion in driving meaningful social change.

On 18tj December 2025, Dent:Beyond featured Hoang Anh Le (Tommy), an Urban Management student from Vietnam National University. Tommy is a recipient of the 1st Prize Student Scientific Research Eureka 2024 in the field of Urban Planning and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee. His session highlighted the role of scientific research, sustainable urban development, and youth contributions to urban planning across Southeast Asia.

The series concluded on 22nd December 2025 with Gabrielle Ecabeza Mercado and Maria Celina B. Morales, students of Bachelor of Science in Public Health at the University of the Philippines. Their discussion focused on public health challenges, young women’s leadership, and the role of youth in improving community health and well-being through collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches.

Throughout the period from September to December 2025, Dent:Beyond served as a continuous platform for participants to build networks, engage in dialogue, and exchange perspectives across countries and disciplines. By connecting students and young professionals from various fields, the program not only enhanced academic and professional insights but also opened opportunities for long-term collaboration in addressing regional and global challenges, in line with the spirit of “Connecting with People Beyond Dentistry.”
