Hasanuddin University Strengthens International Engagement through AVEP with Chulalongkorn University (2023–2025)

The Academic Visit and Exchange Program (AVEP) has become one of Hasanuddin University’s key international mobility initiatives, fostering academic collaboration and cross-cultural exchange with Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Through this program, the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University (FKG UNHAS) has consistently demonstrated its commitment to global engagement and the development of internationally competent dental students.
Over three consecutive years: 2023, 2024, and 2025, Hasanuddin University successfully sent selected delegates to participate in AVEP.
In 2025, ACDS was entrusted with the responsibility of selecting participants for the program. From 8 applicants, two outstanding students: Naurah Athirah (Preclinical Student Batch 2023) and Niu Xinyue (Preclinical Student Batch 2024) were selected to represent the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University. The AVEP 2025 program is scheduled to be held on 11–16 December 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Carrying the theme “Emergency Dentistry”, AVEP 2025 emphasizes the importance of preparedness, clinical competence, and the integration of advanced dental technologies in managing dental and oral emergencies. The program highlights the growing demand for future dentists who are not only clinically skilled but also capable of utilizing modern technology to support accurate diagnosis, efficient treatment planning, and rapid emergency response.
Throughout the program, participants are involved in a wide range of academic activities, including thematic lectures, group discussions, clinical and institutional visits, and hands-on workshops. Key topics such as Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice and Forensic Odontology are complemented by exposure to advanced clinical facilities and state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies.
Beyond academics, AVEP also serves as a platform for cross-cultural exchange and international networking. Participants take part in cultural visits and a one-day excursion to destinations such as the National Museum and Wat Pho, as well as traditional Thai cultural workshops including Look Choop and Pa Mud Yorn. These activities aim to enhance cultural understanding, global perspectives, and professional connections among dental students from diverse backgrounds.
