OKADAI Exchange Program: Strengthening UNHAS–Okayama University Collaboration in Global Health Education

Makassar, Indonesia — Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) continues to enhance its global academic engagement through the OKADAI Exchange Program, a collaborative initiative with Okayama University, Japan. Designed for first-year students in the health sciences, the program provides international learning experiences through combined virtual and on-site academic activities.

Okayama University, one of UNHAS’s long-standing international partners, works closely with several UNHAS health faculties including the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Public Health (FKM), and the Faculty of Nursing (FKep). Initially established as a partnership with the Faculty of Dentistry, the program has expanded to involve multiple faculties, reflecting both institutions’ commitment to strengthening international cooperation.

Program Structure

Virtual Collaboration:
Group discussions, topic development in health or cultural studies, mentorship, and online presentations.

UNHAS Delegation Visit to Okayama University:
Hospital observations, and exposure to Japan’s culture.

The exchange develops students’ readiness to operate in global health environments and contributes to improving academic quality at UNHAS.

Since its launch, the program has successfully conducted four batches: 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The OKADAI Exchange Program stands as a testament to the strong and evolving academic relationship between Universitas Hasanuddin and Okayama University, providing students with a valuable foundation for international engagement.
